However, you can now avoid them by simply enabling our own system. Just say “Alexa enable Solid Gold Gem”, then whenever you want to listen say “Alexa play Solid Gold Gem”. More details are available on our Ways To Listen page.

Our oldies radio online station was created by a group of professional radio DJs who have worked in radio from the 1970s onward. We decided to knock our heads together and in 2012 we recreated a classic ‘oldies’ station.

Solid Gold GEM was originally based on the East Midlands station GEM-AM, where some of our DJs presented ‘the first time around’. These days the  station has evolved a little, but still retains the charm of the original.

We really LOVE the oldies and play we them from the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s with a little New Gold thrown in too. We broadcast 24 hours a day, oh and we are commercial free too! We really are, Radio Like It Used To Be.
